On the evening of March 3, 2021, Sarah Everard, a 33-year-old marketing executive, disappeared in South London, England.

On March 10, 2021 a Metropolitan Police officer was arrested and charged with the kidnapping, rape, and murder of Sarah. He is serving a whole-life term in prison, the maximum sentence under UK law.

WHY THIS MEMORIAL WAS CREATED

This memorial exists because the awful and tragic events that surrounded the senseless death of Sarah Everard, affected me, and millions of others, intensely.

Sarah was a beautiful, intelligent, funny, and compassionate, young woman.

I was compelled to create something that would honor and commemorate Sarah's life.

No feeling of loss is greater than that felt by Sarah's family. I am deeply honored that Sarah's father has allowed me to place this memorial online.

The use of LEGO® for this memorial is not intended to make light of Sarah Everard's death.

The memorial was created with LEGO® as it is a creative medium that I am very comfortable with. It allows me to translate my ideas into physical objects.

Designing this memorial helped me channel the emotions I was experiencing surrounding the utterly senseless death of Sarah Everard.
